INTRODUCTION:

Hi Igniters For Change! The Igniting Change Radio Show on Tuesday, November 26th,  2024, from 12:00 PM – 1:00 PM Eastern Time, entitled “Elections Have Consequences and The National Month of Nonviolence: Rise of Hate; Legislative Threats; President Biden’s Last Presidential Actions; and, More”, will be live with Radio Show Co-Hosts and Transformative Justice Coalition (TJC) Co-Leaders Attorneys Barbara Arnwine, Esq. and Daryl Jones, Esq. and will feature a special interview with guests Dr. Stephanie Myers and Prof. Ernest J. Quarles, Esq.

Dr. Stephanie Myers is National Co-Chair of Black Women for Positive Change, and Vice President of R.J. Myers Publishing and Consulting Company. She recently managed the Global 13th Annual Month of Non Violence, Families, Voters Rights and Opportunities, sponsored by Black Women for Positive Change. The Month of Non-Violence included dozens of violence prevention programs in 7 States in the USA, and 7 countries in Africa, and the United Kingdom. She is also author of the Invisible Queen, a book about Queen Charlotte, the mixed-race Queen of England. Black Women for Positive Change states, “Year 2024 was the 13th Annual Month of Non-Violence, Families, Voters Rights and Opportunities. While there are signs that homicide is decreasing in the United States, the epidemic of violence is still much too frightening with over 16,000 people being killed in 2023. We encourage all Americans, and people overseas to focus on ‘Changing the Culture of Violence in America, and the World.’ During October and early November 2024, there were 26 events in the USA and overseas. Several thousand participants from diverse backgrounds, religions, and nations attended activities which addressed school violence, school safety, bullying, domestic violence, gun control and the impact of artificial intelligence on society. Now, our challenge is to find resources so we can measure the impact of our programs and expand Peace Circles across the world. Be sure to visit the media section of this Report that includes links to podcasts of some of the virtual Events.” Learn more at https://MonthOfNonviolence.org/.

There have been major upheavals in the United States Congress and in the streets of our cities post the 2024 elections. Infamously, in the House of Representatives, two awful bills (HR 8706 “Dismantle DEI Act of 2024” and HR 9495 “The Stop Terror-Financing and Tax Penalties on American Hostages Act”) have been introduced to cripple DEI (Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion) programs and to undermine the private non-profit sector. The Dismantle DEI Act was approved by the House Oversight Committee in a 23-17 vote on Wednesday. Learn more: “’Squad’ member Rep. Pressley fumes over GOP’s anti-DEI bill: Keep MLK’s name ‘out of your mouths’”, FOX News, November 24th 2024, https://www.foxnews.com/media/squad-member-rep-pressley-fumes-over-gops-anti-dei-bill-keep-mlks-name-out-your-mouths The Transformative Justice Coalition has joined our civil rights and nonprofit partners in opposing these horrific bills. We will discuss how, upon the return of the Senate on December 2nd, we can defeat these two threatening acts.

Sadly, racist incidents continue to proliferate in our country following the Election. The announcements of plans for deploying the U.S. military as part of the mass deportation onslaught continues to escalate fears throughout the country.

Lastly, we will discuss the programming that the Transformative Justice Coalition is constituting to address and de-escalate this rising hateful violence. On Monday, December 9th, 2024, TJC will sponsor its next National TeleTown Hall at 7:00 PM Eastern Time.

  • Let’s talk about ways we can de-escalate this hate violence.
  • Of all the things that the Congress could be focusing on, why have they raised to the forefront these two viscous laws, HR 8706 “Dismantle DEI Act of 2024” and HR 9495 “The Stop Terror-Financing and Tax Penalties on American Hostages Act”?
  • How can people fight back? (The U.S. Senate Switchboard Number is 202-224-3121 & you’ll be connected to your senators’ office and ask for the email addresses.. If people have additional time, TJC urges you to email your senators re-iterating your opposition.)

[Daryl and Barbara will announce that on Monday, December 9th, 2024, TJC will sponsor a National TeleTown Hall at 7:00 PM Eastern Time]

  • President Joe Biden still has 8 weeks left in office. During that time, he has the power of the presidency to take action. What should he absolutely do? (nonpartisan)
