The midterm elections are quickly approaching, and you, the citizens of America, will determine who will be in power. All 435 seats in the House of Representatives and a third of Senate seats are up for grabs, as well as 36 governorships and numerous city mayors and local officials seats. “We’ve got to vote,” says Barbara Arnwine, civil rights attorney and co-founder of Transformative Justice Coalition. “The other thing that we’ve got to think about is making sure that we have a truly representative government.” Dr. Phil adds, “We don’t want people to just vote; we want them to be informed voters.” In the video above, hear more from Arnwine and Dr. Phil about the importance of voting and being an educated voter. On Thursday’s episode, “Subway Attack: A Surge in Violence,” a woman who was brutally attacked and left nearly blind by an ex-con says she questions whether her elected officials will do anything about the surge of violence in their city. Plus, hear from Ahmaud Arbery’s father, Marcus, who says he’s on a mission to fight in his son’s name to show people why their vote counts. Check local listings to see where you can watch.
