This week of Thanksgiving Day and Indigenous Peoples Day, the Transformative Justice Coalition (TJC) extends its gratitude to all who have fought so hard this year for racial, gender, environmental, economic and social justice! We are especially grateful for the thousands who worked with TJC across the nation, from big cities to towns and hamlets, to ensure the right to vote for all during the primary season, early voting and general election. Our supporters, as part of “I’ll Rise and Vote” series, helped TJC to be on-the-ground in 13 states in 2024 conducting voter education, organizing trainings for advocates, donating thousands of banned books, mobilizing voters to go to the polls and protecting the legal rights of voters.
Due to your support, we trained an additional 100 young people in April and September to be voting rights advocates. Our hearts are bursting with appreciation and JOY to see the many contributions of the 600 TJC Alumni to the fight for Democracy in 2024.
We were honored by the hundreds of attorneys, law students and all the volunteers for the National Bar Association and Transformative Justice Coalition Election Protection Program. All day long on November 5th, our EP volunteers answered 100s of calls and assisted voters desperate to vote despite bomb threats, malfunctioning voting machines, closed voting sites, registration errors and much more.
In the Aftermath of the Election, we have not been idle but have been restructuring to best address the tremendous challenges that are presented by this new Administration which has already been pursuing its hostile “Project 2025” agenda to destroy the civil rights and voting rights framework that has been vital to our nation.
We will need your support to effectively fight forward to win. TJC invites you to join us in this battle for justice. On December 9th, TJC will hold a major leadership Tele-Town Hall to discuss organizing strategies and new programming for 2025. On December 11th, we will join the Arbery Family in Brunswick for the motions hearing in the Jackie Johnson case who is accused of violating her oath of office and obstructing a police officer by trying to assist the defendants who have subsequently been found guilty of the murder of Ahmaud Arbery. And we will return for the trial starting on January 21, 2025.
As a leadership formation, TJC will continue to provide opportunities for you to be engaged in our fight forward for justice. We will oppose bad Cabinet nominees. We will oppose all efforts to dismantle the civil rights and voting rights legal and procedural infrastructure. We will build a strong nationwide program to combat the growing racial Hate. We will oppose Mass Deportation. We will in the Spirit of our champion, John Lewis, celebrate the 60th Anniversary of Bloody Sunday and Voting Rights Act of 1965. We will stand for women reproductive rights. We will stand with our LGBTQIA brothers and sisters. And we will invest in the GenZ generation.
Join us! On Giving Tuesday and throughout the 2024 Giving Season, we ask for your personal support by contributing to support our work. Every contribution, is appreciated.
Again, our tremendous thanks for your presence and support!
