This Igniting Change Radio Show on Tuesday, April 5, 2022, entitled “Persevere Through Troubled Seas! Despite the Brutish Partisanship and Racism of GOP Members of Senate Judiciary Committee, Judge Ketanji Brown Jackson is on Precipice of Victory!” This show will be anchored in the awesome statement “Persevere Through Troubled Seas!” written by Transformative Justice Coalition’s (TJC’s) Co-Leader Daryl D. Jones, Esq which pays tribute to Judge Ketanji Brown Jackson and all Black women who have suffered unjustified abuse in their efforts to soar above and beyond the societal confines of limited expectations and subordination. Published in conjunction with our show last week, this Statement was a Call To Action in defense of Black women’s dreams and accomplishments. Today’s show will feature Radio Show Co-Hosts and Transformative Justice Coalition (TJC) Co-Leaders Attorneys Barbara Arnwine and Daryl Jones in discussion with TJC Executive Committee members Terry O’Neill and Dianne Wilkerson.
In the first and second segments of the show will look back on the decades-long battle for the fight for Black women to be on the Supreme Court. We will discuss some top line reactions to yesterday’s failed tie vote in the Senate Judiciary Committee (SJC) and Sen Schumer’s successful discharge of Judge Brown Jackson’s confirmation proceeding to the floor of the Senate with the aid of three GOP members.
We will discuss the continuing disrespectful, racist antics on display by several senators, especially the “Gang of Five”: Senators Lindsey Graham, Josh Hawley, Marcia Blackburn, Ted Cruz, and Tom Cotton. Again, during Monday’s vote, these Senators led an ugly baseless attack on Judge Brown Jackson accusing her of being soft on crime, out of the mainstream of judicial sentencing in pornography cases, dishonest in not sharing her judicial philosophy, dishonest in not sharing her perspectives on who is a woman, a hidden believer in Critical Race Theory and Court Packing, and being a radical activist jurist. Of course, over the 4 days of last week’s confirmation hearings all of these seven lines of attack were repudiated with facts and testimony, including from conservative judges, showing that Judge Brown Jackson is very much in the mainstream. Like previous nominees she has refused to discuss a judicial philosophy. She pointed out repeatedly that court packing decisions are made by the legislative branch and justices have no role in that decision making.
Probably the most nonsensical allegation against her was that she had refused to answer the questions of the Gang of Five. In reality, she spent 23+ hours before the SJC being interrogated and wrote answers to 1500 questions.
Many GOP members joined their Democratic members in lauding her credentials, accomplishments and excellence but in an act of cowardice and partisanship still voted against her.
Not one single GOP member of the SJC voted to forward her nomination to the floor.
Public polling shows a strong majority of Americans support her nomination.
Fortunately, Senator Susan Collins, Senator Lisa Murkowski and Senator Mitt Romney joined all the Democrats in the Senate and successfully discharged Judge Ketanji Brown Jackson’s nomination to the Senate floor. With their indicating that they will also vote to confirm Judge Brown Jackson, this sets up a positive scenario for a floor vote this week.
In the third segment, we will examine what to expect for the final floor vote by the full Senate.
Our fourth segment will explore the future fight for African American women to achieve more presence and diversity in government, particularly the US Senate and so many other sectors in the US political sphere.
Time permitting we will discuss the ongoing troubling consequences and legacy of the Clarence Thomas confirmation. In particular, we will examine the latest ethical conflict posed by his wife’s direct communications with Mark Meadows, former White House Chief of Staff, attempting subversion of the 2020 election results and her connections to the January 6th Insurrection. A major controversy is waging as to whether or not Judge Clarence Thomas should have recused himself from earlier considerations by the Court of issues related to the 2020 elections and prior and upcoming cases.
These are the issues we will cover during this show.

The topic of our April 5, 2022 show is “Persevere Through Troubled Times! Despite the Brutish Partisanship and Racism of GOP Members of the Senate Judiciary Committee, Judge Ketanji Brown Jackson is on Precipice of Victory!”
The themes and subjects of our show this week is drawn from the top headlines regarding the Supreme Court battles and is necessitated by the overall failure of the media to capture the actual nature and devastating, wicked behavior of the Gang of Five during the Judge Ketanji Brown Jackson Confirmation Hearings. Besides offering our unique, pointed, and insightful commentary on these events, we will discuss next steps in which our listeners can impact the upcoming confirmation proceedings.
