SHOW DESCRIPTION AND BACKGROUND

After the “Kansas Primary Earthquake”, other primaries and recent polling, it is evident there have been major realignments and changes in the US electorate. In many Republican primaries extremist “Big Steal” candidates backed by former President Trump have prevailed over more moderate candidates in election contests for congressional, Senate and state gubernatorial races. Voter turnout has been very high compared to prior Midterm primaries. In Democratic primaries, there has been an increase in voter turnout, even in uncontested races. Surprisingly, independent voters have been active in primaries in which they are allowed to participate.

Recent polling has shown huge shifts in the White Male vote in favor of the Democrats in the generic polling for congressional preferences. In recent news, the RSLP has announced it is dropping ad purchases for Republican Senate candidates in Arizona, Pennsylvania and Wisconsin with speculation this is due to a drastic drop in fundraising. This show will discuss these developments and their implications for the November 2022 MidTerm election.

In addition, Igniting Change will preview a nationally televised panel discussion being sponsored by the African American Policy Forum on August 22, 5:00 PM ET in which TJC President Barbara Arnwine will participate.

Lastly, Igniting Change will discuss the TJC, National Newspaper Publishers Association, and RocNation #10MillionMoreBlackVoters partnership.
