Attorney Daryl Jones and I will rotate in asking questions during the show. The questions included below are designed to provide a guide but are not the only possible questions, nor may they be asked in the exact same order.
This Igniting Change Radio Show on Tuesday, June 7th, 2022, entitled “America’s Vote 2022: New Threats, the Struggle for Voter Restoration, and Our Fight Back” will feature Radio Show Co-Hosts and Transformative Justice Coalition (TJC) Co-Leaders Attorneys Barbara Arnwine and Daryl Jones with prominent guests Desmond Meade and Atty. Denise Lieberman. This show will be broadcasted against the backdrop of Primary Day for 7 states, including California (state and federal), Iowa (voters will be selecting representatives to face off for the state’s Governor and US Senate race in November), Mississippi (House races), Montana (House races), New Jersey (House races), New Mexico (Governor and Senate along with a variety of down ballot races), and South Dakota (Governor and Senate).
Barbara, Daryl, and their guests will cover not only recent major developments threatening the right to vote during the Fall MidTerm Elections, but also focus on the continuing daunting struggle to restore the right to vote for those who have been formerly incarcerated or who otherwise have felony records.
These are the issues we will cover during this show.
Be sure to invite your friends to listen live at WOL 1450 AM in the Greater DC Metro Region, and nationwide and globally on the Internet at WOLDCNEWS.com and BarbaraArnwine.com. Listeners can call in with questions at 800-450-7876.
Please note, during the show there are 3 hard stop commercial breaks at 12:13 PM Eastern Time, 12:28 PM ET and 12:43 PM ET. We will stop all guests from speaking right before each break.
The first half of our show will feature an overview of the continuing challenges of “felon disenfranchisement” by the States. Indeed, some 6 million citizens are outright blocked from voting by disenfranchising laws that impede their ability to restore their right to vote following incarceration or bar voting until the completion of parole, probation, sentencing, and/or the repayment of restitution and fees. It is estimated that millions more of persons formerly incarcerated who are actually eligible to vote in their states do not register to vote based on confusion regarding their rights and fear of reincarceration should they mistakenly vote. As President of the Florida Rights Restoration Coalition (FRRC) which successfully passed Amendment 4, a ballot initiative designed to restore the right to vote to hundreds of thousands of Floridians, special guest Desmond Meade will discuss the resistance by the governor and Florida State Legislature to implementing the will of the people. As a national advocate for voter restoration, he will also share his perspectives on the status of the nationwide struggle for voter restoration.
TJC Co-Leaders and Radio Hosts Attorneys Arnwine and Jones will discuss the new nationwide TJC Voter Engagement and Restoration Program to assist in this national fight to automatically restore the right to vote.
As the 2022 Primary season proceeds, last week there was alarming news published in both Politico and the New York Times regarding a new assault on the right to vote germinating from the deliberate training and planned deployment of thousands of resentful “Stop The Steal” activists to become poll disruptors and challengers in the Fall of 2022. Even worse, these disruptors will be planted at African-American, Latino, and other voters of color polling sites. As if this wicked planning was not enough, the Missouri State Legislature recently passed HB1878. See the Missouri Voter Protection Advocates’ image below to learn more about HB1878
The second half of the show will focus on Missouri Voter Protection Advocates’ fight against HB1878. As a national voter protection expert, Attorney Lieberman will also share her views on the training and threat of the poll disruptors.
