Call in with Questions During the Show

The entirety of this show will be devoted to this subject of the 57th Anniversary of the Bloody Sunday and the subsequent March from Selma to Montgomery. The Transformative Justice Coalition has been a major supporter of the Jubilee and the March.  March 3rd- 6th, 2022, and the Selma-to-Montgomery March, March 7th – 11th,We will review the 2022 Selma Bridge Crossing Jubilee held on March 3-6th to mark the anniversary of Bloody Sunday and the sacrifices of so many leading to passage of the Voting Rights Act of 1965.
A major goal of these outstanding annual gatherings is to commemorate the anniversary of Bloody Sunday by rededicating thousands to continue the fight for voting rights.
Among the many superb events planned for the Jubilee are the workshops to provide information and skills training to wage the current fight for voting rights.  The Transformative Justice Coalition is sponsoring 3 workshops on March 4-5th. In light of the vicious voter suppression assault sweeping our nation, this year’s Selma events are of the highest importance. We will also share with our national audience plans for the subsequent 5 day March from Selma to Montgomery, designed to recreate the historic march led by Dr. Martin Luther King and so many others.
During the show, we will highlight the 3 TJC workshops held on March 4-5.  All the workshops were held live and were nationally broadcast live at Facebook.com/TJC.DC. The first Workshop was held in the morning of March 4th, entitled “We Are Unstoppable! Protecting the Vote and Combatting Voter Suppression in 2022!” Panelists included Lynn Whitfield, TJC’s Senior Attorney; Aniyah Vines, The Live Movement, Dr. Karen McRae, CEO of the National Organization of Concerned Black Men of America; and Rev. Stephen Green, Chair, Faith for Black Lives.  We had a spirited and insightful panel discussion.  Our show will cover some of the many highlights of this discussion.
The Second workshop was held that afternoon on the topic of “One Struggle Uniting to Defeat Attacks on Voting Rights, Protests, Critical Race Theory and More!”  Panelists included State Rep. Ronald Reynolds, Texas; Prof. Luke Harris, Co-Founder of the African American Policy Forum; Lori Coleman, Director of Strategy for DemCast; Charles Maudlin, Selma Footsoldier and Organizer; and David Johns, Executive Director of the National Black Justice Coalition.
That evening, Radio Show Co-Host Barbara R. Arnwine, participated in the Annual Jubilee Mock Trial as a witness on the subject of “Has the State of Alabama Violated US Constitution by Banning Critical Race Theory?” This was a lively and highly educational program.
Later that evening, Radio Host Arnwine, Aniyah Vines and Luke Harris attended the Poor People’s Campaign’s Launch of the Moral Monday June 18, 2022 March on Washington.
The next morning of Saturday, March 4th, Radio Co-Hosts, Daryl D. Jones and Barbara Arnwine attended the inspirational “Footsoldiers’ Breakfast.”
Our last workshop was held later that day on “We’ll Rise Up! Restoring the Right to Vote.” Panelists included Congressman Mondaire Jones, D-NY 17th District; Rodreshia Russaw, Executive Director of The Ordinary People’s Society; Commissioner Omar Sabir of Philadelphia; and Lonita Baker, Pres-Elect of the National Bar Association and Counsel to Breonna Taylor.
That evening TJC, Marcus Arbery and the paternal Uncles, Aunts and cousins of Ahmaud Arbery joined the Annual Freedom Flame Dinner.  We were moved by the tribute to the Family at this dinner.
The next morning, Barbara Arnwine spoke at the nationally broadcast Unity Breakfast.
Later that afternoon, Daryl Jones and Barbara Arnwine took photos with Vice President Kamala Harris.
Barbara Arnwine participated in a small meeting of civil rights leaders with the Vice President.
In an especial honor, Barbara Arnwine was chosen to speak at the Rally prior to the remarks of the Vice President.
We marched in the beginning procession with the Vice President of the 57th Bridge Crossing Jubilee.
Monday, TJC, Poor People’s Campaign, Rainbow PUSH Coalition and the Arbery Family participated in the first day of the Selma to Montgomery March 2022.  TJC will march all week long until the March 11th, when Barbara Arnwine will speak at the Rally being held at the Alabama State Capitol.
Time permitting an update on the Supreme Court will be provided. On February 25th, Biden nominated Judge Ketanji Brown Jackson to become the 116th Associate Justice of the Supreme Court of the United States.. Already this historic nomination has generated tremendous excitement for all women, especially Black women; those with progressive ideals and a commitment to equal justice; and, many other communities. Unsurprisingly, the nomination has also generated controversy and resistance in other communities.  Hearings on the nomination will be held in the US Senate beginning on March 21st.  We will examine next steps for this nomination and how our audience members can become involved.

Be sure to invite your friends to listen live at WOL 1450 AM in the Greater DC Metro Region, and nationwide and globally on the Internet at WOLDCNEWS.com and BarbaraArnwine.com.  Listeners can call in with questions at 800-450-7876.
