INTRODUCTION:

As TJC plans to take the John Lewis bus on the road to GOTV with our partners in Kentucky and Ohio, Nov 2nd – 7th, this week’s Igniting Change will continue last week’s focus on the specific issues and challenges confronting voters in these two states. In addition, Igniting Change will speak about the other major state elections taking place in New Jersey, Virginia, and Mississippi on November 7th and Louisiana on November 18th. TJC and its partners, various branches of the NAACP in Kentucky, the Divine Nine, and student leaders at Kentucky State University, the University of Louisville, and Central State University in Ohio, are all working vigorously to turn out the vote during the very limited time of early voting in Kentucky, Nov. 2nd – 4th, and on Souls to the Polls Sunday in Ohio on Sunday, November 5th, and for the General Election in both states on November 7th.

SEGMENT ONE

• On Wednesday, November 1st, TJC, the TJC Team, the Hoopbus, and 13 of our Freedom Riders will arrive in Louisville, Kentucky in anticipation of the November 7th general election and early voting in Kentucky and Ohio. Raoul, what does the participation of TJC, the John Lewis Bus, the Hoopbus, and our young bold Freedom Riders mean to Louisville’s effort to Get Out The Vote?
• Cameron, you’re going to be rolling with us. Why are you taking your own time to do this extraordinary measure to be on the road with us for 8 days?
• Taylor, you’ve been working on the Get Out The Vote for students at the University of Louisville. Why is the Gen Z vote so important for this election?

• Taylor, you attended the TJC Gen Z and Millennial Votes Matter Leadership Training in September 2023 in Washington, D.C. How did this Training help in your organizing of the TJC event at the University of Louisville?
