INTRODUCTION:

Happy Halloween! The Igniting Change Radio Show on Tuesday, October 31st, 2023, from 12:00 PM – 1:00 PM Eastern Time, entitled, “Rolling Out The Vote for the November 7th Elections in Kentucky and Ohio! Part 2”, will be live with Radio Show Co-Hosts and Transformative Justice Coalition (TJC) Co-Leaders Attorneys Barbara Arnwine, Esq. and Daryl Jones, Esq. and guests Whit Whitaker; Cameron Barnes; Raoul Cunningham; Quincy Robinson; and, Taylor Martin

As TJC plans to take the John Lewis bus on the road to GOTV with our partners in Kentucky and Ohio, Nov 2nd – 7th, this week’s Igniting Change will continue last week’s focus on the specific issues and challenges confronting voters in these two states. In addition, Igniting Change will speak about the other major state elections taking place in New Jersey, Virginia, and Mississippi on November 7th and Louisiana on November 18th. TJC and its partners, various branches of the NAACP in Kentucky, the Divine Nine, and student leaders at Kentucky State University, the University of Louisville, and Central State University in Ohio, are all working vigorously to turn out the vote during the very limited time of early voting in Kentucky, Nov. 2nd – 4th, and on Souls to the Polls Sunday in Ohio on Sunday, November 5th, and for the General Election in both states on November 7th.

QUESTIONS:

SEGMENT ONE

  • On Wednesday, November 1st, TJC, the TJC Team, the Hoopbus, and 13 of our Freedom Riders will arrive in Louisville, Kentucky in anticipation of the November 7th general election and early voting in Kentucky and Ohio. Raoul, what does the participation of TJC, the John Lewis Bus, the Hoopbus, and our young bold Freedom Riders mean to Louisville’s effort to Get Out The Vote?
  • Cameron, you’re going to be rolling with us. Why are you taking your own time to do this extraordinary measure to be on the road with us for 8 days?
  • Taylor, you’ve been working on the Get Out The Vote for students at the University of Louisville. Why is the Gen Z vote so important for this election?

SEGMENT TWO

  • Cameron, you were on the road with TJC in Georgia and Florida. From your personal experience, why are these votercades important?
  • Taylor, you attended the TJC Gen Z and Millennial Votes Matter Leadership Training in September 2023 in Washington, D.C. How did this Training help in your organizing of the TJC event at the University of Louisville?
  • Raoul, what are the plans for Louisville and Shelbyville?
  • Raoul, in case people have any issues- like knowing where their polling place is- what number can they call? (866-OUR-VOTE)
  • Raoul, on the 7th, you’re going to be running a Command Center. Please tell people what this will look like.
  • Raoul and Taylor, what are your final thoughts to our listeners?
  • Raoul and Taylor, Thank you for all of your hard work. How do our listeners get in contact with you?

SEGMENT THREE

  • Whit, we are looking forward to arriving in Lexington as part of the early vote in Kentucky. You have really been busy. Tell people what you have been doing to get the word out.
  • What were some of the highlights of the press conference?
  • Quincy, you’re going to not only be working at the University of Louisville to Get Out The Vote, you’re also going to be joining us in Lexington. Why is getting out the vote for this election so important?
  • Cameron, we are going to be going to Kentucky State University on November 3rd and you’ve helped us organize to be on Central State University campuses in Ohio on November 6th. What does it mean to you to be returning to your alma mater to get out the vote?
  • Quincy and Cameron, you’ve been with us on a couple of these activations now. What has that meant to you to be part of the TJC Voter Justice Activation Series?
  • Whit, for Lexington, what does it mean for young people to be involved in these elections?
  • For this election, what are going to be the biggest barriers that students will face when voting and how do we overcome them?
  • What issues are students going to be most hype to vote for?

SEGMENT FOUR

  • Whit, given all the misinformation and lack of information, it appears that we must elevate our movement. How do you think that we can best build a great national public education campaign to reach all those in the various states with correct information about voter eligibility and the process to help restore their right to vote?
  • What do you think is the most important grassroots organizing that you think needs to happen in order to ensure strong voter protection and engagement in November 2023 and 2024?
  • How can our audience be involved, attend these events, and help get out the vote?
  • What are your final thoughts to our listeners?
  • Thank you for all of your hard work. How do our listeners get in contact with you?
