Join TJC Good Trouble 2022 One Day Hunger Strike for Democracy This Week Thursday, January 13th

Happy New Year Justice Activists! Time for Good Trouble 2022!

The next two weeks will be decisive for the passage of the Freedom to Vote Act and the John Lewis Voting Rights Advancement Act! It is critical that the Senate vote for filibuster reform so that these two bills can be passed to stop the vicious wave of voter suppression and gerrymandering that threatens the very foundation of our Democracy. This is a Moral Imperative demanding all of our support and action. UN-PAC and brave college students from throughout the nation will resume their hunger strike at the US Capitol until this voting rights legislation is passed. Transformative Justice Coalition Co-Leaders Barbara Arnwine and Daryl Jones will join them and invite you to Join Us on Thursday, January 13th for a One Day Hunger Strike. With the Midterm primaries set to start imminently, action is required. The US Senate must know that we are demanding they protect our Voting Rights and Our Democracy NOW!!

Radio Show Host Joe Madison has been on a hunger strike for 2 months. Rev. Stephen Green and Faith leaders launched a hunger strike last week. Our colleague Robert Johnson has been on a hunger strike for over 50 days. We ask everyone to do whatever you can safely do according to your own health and other needs. And, please do contact your US Senators at 202-224-3121 and urge them to support rules reform to pass Freedom to Vote Act and the John Lewis Voting Rights Advancement Act.

If you can join this TJC Good Trouble One Day Hunger Strike, please let us know and post your action on social media and note @TJC_DC on Twitter and at Transformative Justice Coalition on Facebook. Do share this Day of Action with your friends and colleagues.

THIS IS OUR MOMENT TO STAND ON THE PATH OF RIGHTEOUSNESS AND JUSTICE IN THE SACRIFICIAL TRADITION OF CONGRESSMAN JOHN LEWIS AND SO MANY OTHERS!

Last week, with the life sentencing of the murderers of Ahmaud Arbery, TJC, Allies, the Arbery Family and many of you proved to the naysayers that the organized and concerted power of the people demanding justice can not be denied. Our thanks for everyone for your activism in helping to ensure our voting rights and Democracy are protected!

Sincerely,

Barbara R. Arnwine, Esq.
Daryl D. Jones, Esq.

“We get to have the real record out about their hate, about the hatred that drove these individuals. That story has to be told,” said activist and lawyer Barbara Arnwine, who attended the trial and sentencing. “Because how can America ever get over hate if we don’t confront it?”
