Our Focus Area

Democracy and Voting Rights Project

The Democracy and Voting Rights Project ensures absolute voting equity by dismantling barriers tied to race, age, and disability. Utilizing our Voting Rights Map of Shame, we expose over 72 forms of voter suppression, including restrictive laws and digital disinformation. TJC empowers voters with actionable strategies and resources to navigate obstacles, ensuring every ballot is cast and counted. Our mission drives systemic electoral reform and the restoration of voting rights for formerly incarcerated individuals. Together, we are reclaiming a democracy that is accessible, transparent, and truly representative of us all.

Youth Leadership Development Initiative

The Youth Leadership Development Initiative empowers Gen Z and young Millennial leaders to drive racial and social justice. Through high-impact workshops and short-term institutes, we cultivate essential professional, organizational, and communications skills. Our Train the Trainer initiative builds sustainable leadership, while our Field Activations provide real-world organizing experience. By equipping the next generation with these tools, TJC ensures a powerful, lasting movement for equity. We are dedicated to training young activists to mobilize their communities, navigate complex political landscapes, and lead systemic change with sophisticated, modern strategies.

Criminal Justice Project

The Criminal Justice Project will focus on reducing the rate of incarceration for people of color in federal and state prisons by working directly with formerly incarcerated persons to educate the public about preventative strategies and alternatives to incarceration.

Policing Reform Project

The Policing Reform Project is a direct response to the urgent need for safety and accountability in our communities. We are committed to ending police misconduct and systemic violence by dismantling racial profiling, targeting, and the over-militarization of local departments. Through the promotion of community oversight and transparent technology, we work to ensure police are accountable to the people they serve. Our work includes producing actionable toolkits, hosting digital town halls, and advocating with officials to implement common-sense reforms that prioritize de-escalation over force—rebuilding a system rooted in justice and public trust.

Race and Sports Equity Project

The Race and Sports Equity Project addresses systemic disparities within the sports industry rooted in race and gender. A core component of this initiative involves collaborating with professional leagues and players’ associations to implement robust equity programs for women and people of color. Through sponsored panels and educational programming, TJC highlights the structural challenges facing the industry and advocates for sustainable, equitable change across all levels of sports.
